Since 1982, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Safety Education Center has been providing a wide array of information concerning traffic safety, law enforcement, drug abuse and many items relating to the history of the Missouri Highway Patrol. Visitors will be able to view exhibits focusing on the services and responsibilities of the Highway Patrol both on and off the highways.
The museum building stands as a historical site, built by Governor B. Gratz Brown in 1871 and has become a popular tourist attraction. The museum offers a rich collection of artifacts, antiques and historical documents. It is the only county museum in the country to own and display inaugural gowns of its state’s First Ladies.
The Missouri State Museum manages a large collection of artifacts that consists of approximately 50,000 artifacts and objects from all aspects of Missouri cultural and natural history.
This museum features exhibits from 1808, the activation date of the Missouri Militia and continues with exhibits from the War of 1812 to Desert Storm. The museum also has historical files on Missouri's military history and soldier and airmen files dating back to 1900. The museum is located on the Ike Skelton Training Center.
This is the only museum in the country dedicated solely to veterinary medicine. Visitors will have the opportunity to view veterinary artifacts and instruments, many over 100 years old. The museum houses more than 3,500 artifacts dating from the 1st century to the present day. Both children and adults will enjoy visiting this museum.
