Jefferson City Memorials & Monuments

This monument is located next to the Missouri State Capitol near the corner of Jefferson Street and Capitol Avenue on the capitol grounds overlooking the Jefferson Landing Historic Site and the Missouri River. The monument features Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, York (Clark’s man-servant), George Druillard (French-Canadian-Shawnee hunter and interpreter) and Seaman (Lewis’ Newfoundland dog). Other items that can be seen in the monuments include a journal, telescope, guns and hats.

Soldiers’ Memorial Plaza was developed and constructed by Lincoln University in honor of the Lincoln University founders, the brave men of the 62nd and 65th Colored Infantries who served in the US Civil War.

Located in front of the Jefferson City Police Department, the Veteran’s Plaza features a Korean and Vietnam memorial and a "Walk of Honor." The "Walk of Honor" is dedicated to any area veteran who honorably served in the United State Military, Coast Guard or Merchant Marines.
